Gentle techniques work to give lasting relief from pain for adults , including the elderly. This improves everyday activities and enhancing performance in sport and creative arts.

I use a very gentle type of osteopathy, which is especially appropriate for the elderly for whom strong manipulation would normally be contraindicated.

Cranial osteopathy’s method of subtle joint positioning and balancing provides an effective alternative to manipulation of the spine and limb joints, encompassing the whole body, not just the head.

Increase flexibility, improve technique

Through a highly developed sense of touch, I can identify and gently release restrictions in your body which could be holding back your technique. Osteopathy can help:

  • alleviate pain which is interfering with your enjoyment and ability to participate
  • prevent injury and maintain flexibility
  • increase the range of movement in your joints to increase your power and agility
  • rebalance your nervous system to increase calmness and focus, improving judgement of distance and hand-eye coordination.
Increase flexibility, improve technique

As a musician, I can understand the problems that performers may have, whether that be the physical demands of playing an instrument, voice production, or the accumulative emotional stress from performance nerves.

Mother of twins

Ben is a skilled and intuitive osteopath with a sensitive approach to his clients and a focussed approach to his work. I am amazed at how much he can perceive through his light touch treatment and how effective the results can be.

Full-time carer

I can’t adequately explain how much Ben has helped me during the last 12 months of regular visits to him. I suffer from osteoarthritis and tinnitus and always leave his surgery feeling restored and energised and ready to return to everyday life. I call his surgery my oasis of calm. I highly recommend you use the services of Ben and see the improvement in your well-being first hand.

Former back pain sufferer

Having suffered with lower back pain for about 10 years, Ben was recommended to me by a friend. With his expert knowledge and gentle touch, my back pain ceased after four sessions and this has made such a difference to my quality of life – I haven’t felt this good for years! I now see Ben every 3 months for ‘general maintenance’. I highly recommend him.

Horse rider
Following a riding accident which resulted in severe whiplash, I found Ben’s website and was intrigued by this form of treatment, in particular that there is no “pulling and pushing”! After only two treatments, the pain and stiffness was hugely improved and I had more movement than I thought possible. Ben also worked on realigning my shoulders and pelvis, after which I noticed when riding my horse that I could lengthen my right stirrup by a hole – clearly I had been tight and short through the right side of my body. I would highly recommend Ben’s gentle and skilled treatment to anyone.
I have a long history of back pain with severe congenital scoliosis and I have sought out the very best Cranial Osteopaths in London and Bath. I was anxious when I had to move to Oxfordshire but I was amazed and delighted to find Ben Colyer in Henley-on-Thames. Ben is one of the very best Cranial Osteopaths I have ever been lucky enough to work with. My back has gone from strength to strength and I have even been able to take up gardening, something I never imagined my back could endure. I have introduced a number of friends to Ben for back and hip issues and they are all delighted by the results of his treatments. We all have a huge respect for Ben’s ability as a Cranial Osteopath as well as really appreciating him as a wonderful and kind person.

I have been receiving treatment from Ben for tension headaches. The treatment I received has been very helpful. My problem is now much improved. I found Ben very friendly and understanding and will always consult him in the future when needed.
